ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. —

One worker was flown to the hospital and another was taken for evaluation following an electrical explosion in Ellwood City on Sunday.

According to Ellwood City Fire Chief Rick Meyers, two workers were taken to the hospital following an electrical explosion that occurred at Ellwood City Forge on Commercial Avenue. Advertisement

One person was flown to a local trauma center for treatment while another was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Officials said the person flown to the hospital sustained severe burns as a result of the incident.

Meyers said power to the whole facility was turned off, and all other employees were sent home.

Fire officials said the explosion occurred in a large fuse panel inside the facility.
