Fire heavily damaged a structure in the Stella community of Calloway County on Saturday night.
Calloway County Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the Hwy 121 between Kirksey Road and Butterworth Road. Callers to 911 advised that the shop was already fully involved at the time firemen were toned out.
The first units arriving on scene found the shop was also lived in by the owner, who was outside walking around.
While battling the fire, it was discovered that the homeowner had sustained first-degree burns. He was transported to Murray-Calloway County Hospital, then flown to a specialized burn unit. No update on his condition has been released.
