Former Red Sox starter now headed back to Worcester after DFA due to Nathaniel Lowe signing
The Boston Red Sox recently acquired Nathaniel Lowe off of waivers and he has been a smash hit for them, bringing power hitting to first base. However, this meant they needed to designate Abraham Toro for assignment, the man holding it down previously.
However, Toro hasn’t left completely. According to Masslives’ Red Sox insider Chris Cotillo , Toro cleared waivers, and rejoined the Sox via AAA Worcester.
Toro was also a replacement first baseman, taking the role after the original starter, Triston Casas, ruptured his patellar tendon. Toro was slashing .239/.289/.371/.659 with seven home runs when he was DFA’d.
