“You never write off the Rangers” was much of the chatter going around Dr Cullen Park after a Chris Nolan-inspired Mount Leinster side reclaimed the Willie O’Connor Cup to become kings of Carlow hurling for a 12th time.

“Did you see what they wrote in the Carlow Nationalist ? They gave us no chance” was also overheard, and the display of Paul O’Brien’s side was another classic example of a team taking motivation from their detractors.
