Vancouver Canadians slugger Sean Keys could build you a pitching machine from scratch.

The left-handed hitting third baseman, whose two-run walk-off home run Saturday in a 5-4 win over the Tri-City Dust Devils at Nat Bailey Stadium gave him a team-high 16 long balls on the season, has a mechanical engineering degree from Bucknell University.

Keys’ alma mater in Lewisburg, Penn., isn’t an Ivy League school, but it has so many similar academic standards and philosophies that it’s regularly referred to as one of the Little Ivies or Hidden Ivies.

The product of Centerport, N.Y., was an Academic All-Patriot League Team selection in 2024 and, for an idea on his area of study, ESPN put together a feature on a robot that Keys built for a class project as part of its Patriot League coverage.
