SALT LAKE CITY — A fire near Interstate 15 in Millard County was reported at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Utah Fire Info said just before 5 p.m. that two helicopters and six fire engines were responding to what they called the Widemouth Fire .

The fire was burning south of Kanosh near Dog Valley Mountain, the agency said. It was reported to be approximately 75 acres on Saturday afternoon, but Utah Fire Info provided an update that new estimates were between 400 to 600 acres just after 9 p.m.

Utah Fire Info said the fire was burning through pinyon juniper, grass and sagebrush.

Thick smoke could be seen rising from the central Utah hills.

Utah Fire Info said no structures were immediately threatened, and officials believed the fire started naturally.
