ABERDEEN, IDAHO, Idaho — Firefighting crews are battling a 4,000-acre wildfire that ignited Saturday night in Idaho's Big Desert, approximately 14 miles northwest of Aberdeen.

The Split Top fire was reported around 9 p.m. on Aug. 23 near the Split Top and Arco-Minidoka roads, according to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM ). The fire burned actively overnight as crews worked on containment operations.

Multiple agencies are responding to the grass and brush fire, including crews from the BLM Idaho Falls District and fire departments from Bannock and Power counties. Resources deployed include engines, water tenders, dozers and overhead personnel.

The fire destroyed one outbuilding described as a well house, and additional structures remain threatened. No evacuations have been ordered.
