The Bromley Historical Society is honoured to welcome former Renfrew MPP and university professor, Sean Conway who will speak on “Thomas D’Arcy McGee: A Man for our Times”. This free public presentation will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 34 Pembroke Street, Cobden.

A Father of Confederation, Thomas D’Arcy McGee, turned away from his early Irish republican leanings, which struggled to gain independence from England. In his nine years living in the United States, he was witness to the country becoming anti-Irish and implementing policies that restricted immigration in a bid to protect the rights of American-born citizens.
