The National Weather Service released an updated severe thunderstorm warning at 5:57 p.m. on Sunday in effect until 6:30 p.m. for Franklin and St. Lawrence counties.
The storms may bring quarter-sized hail (1 inch) and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
"At 5:56 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Brasher, moving northeast at 30 mph," explains the weather service. "Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect wind damage to trees and powerlines."
Locations impacted by the warning include Massena International Airport - Richards Field, Brasher, Fort Covington, Bombay, Massena, Lawrence, Moira, Norfolk, Stockholm, South Bombay, St. Regis, Brasher Center, Hogansburg, Akwesasne Mohawk Territory, Ironton, Rooseveltown, North Lawrence, Raquette River, Helena and Brasher Falls.
