An updated severe thunderstorm warning was released by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 3:32 p.m. in effect until 4 p.m. for Cayuga and Onondaga counties.

The storms are anticipated to bring wind gusts of up to 70 mph and walnut-sized hail (1.5 inches).

"At 3:32 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Jordan, or 10 miles north of Auburn, moving east at 35 mph," according to the weather service. "People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings."

Locations impacted by the warning include Onondaga, Syracuse, Clay, Cicero, De Witt, Lysander, Van Buren, Baldwinsville, North Syracuse, NY State Fair and Solvay.
