The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 5:12 p.m. on Sunday for strong thunderstorms until 5:45 p.m. for Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades.

Prepare for nickel-sized hail (0.88 inches) and wind gusts of up to 30 mph.

"At 5:12 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Camp Creek At Iron Gate Lake, or 19 miles northeast of Yreka. This storm was nearly stationary," comments the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible."

The alert is for Camp Creek At Iron Gate Lake and Copco Lake.

According to the weather service, "If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building."
