The National Weather Service’s Pueblo office has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for central Pueblo County after a dangerous thunderstorm with the potential to injure people and animals was located over Pueblo Memorial Airport, moving south at 10 miles per hour.
The alert, issued by the NWS at 4:21 p.m., states the storm could bring 70 mph wind gusts and hail the size of a ping pong ball.
“People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings,” the alert states.
The impacted locations include Pueblo, the Pueblo airport, Salt Creek, and Blende. Residents in those areas are instructed to move to an interior room on the lowest floor
