The Multnomah County Medical Examiner is investigating a possible heat-related death, it announced on Sunday, the first such death connected to a string of hot days that battered Portland residents this weekend.
The 56-year-old man was found dead on Saturday, the examiner’s office said in a news release. Officials did not identify the man or say where exactly he died. He was found in a zip code that includes Old Town Portland, the Pearl District and Nob Hill.
The agency didn’t offer any additional details. The investigation is still preliminary, the examiner’s office said, and investigators may not be able to confirm for weeks or months whether heat was the true culprit in the man’s death.
Multnomah County also suspects heat killed at least two people during a string of hot days ear
