On Sunday at 6:40 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 7:15 p.m. for Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Tompkins counties.
Residents should be prepared for wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
"At 6:40 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Enfield to Big Flats, moving east at 25 mph," says the weather service. "Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees."
Locations impacted by the warning include Ithaca, Elmira, Corning, Big Flats, Horseheads, Newfield, Elmira Heights, Cayuga Heights, Lansing and Enfield.
