CAMP SPRINGS, Md. — WUSA9 caught up with DMV Prime Elite , a U8 girls flag football team, outside of Spizzy Smoothie's and Tea as the players were taking a break from back-to-school shopping.
The girls are gearing up for a brand new school year as they continue to break barriers in football - an otherwise male-dominated sport, and they're not afraid to tell boys at school why.
"They tell me football’s not for girls. They tell me it’s not a girl's sport," said Kamryn Goodin, who goes to Valley View Elementary in Oxon Hill, "And I say, well, that’s not true because I do play football."
Over the last 14 months, DMV Prime Elite has grown - not just on the field, but off the field too. Just ask the parents.
