SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Bahia Vista St. is currently closed east and westbound between Honore and Arcadia Ave. after Sarasota County Sheriffs say a child fell into the drainage system.

According to deputies a small child was playing near a culvert but was pulled into the drainage system due to the strong water flow.

The child was located 100 yards west on Bahia Vista St. and transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital after being carried through the drain.

This happened after a main water break at 5433 Bahia Vista St.

Public Works is on-site addressing the water main break.
