An online petition is seeking “fair sentencing” for an illegal immigrant accused of causing a fatal highway crash in Florida , saying the charges against him don’t align with “the circumstances of the incident.”
On Aug. 12, Harjinder Singh, a truck driver, made an illegal U-turn in a semi-truck on Florida’s Turnpike, killing three people in an oncoming minivan. After the crash, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced an investigation into it, and Singh was most recently denied bond , with a Florida judge ruling that he constitutes a substantial flight risk. He is currently in custody on state vehicular homicide charges and immigration violations.
