WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE)– Three families are without a home after flames engulfed their house in Woonsocket on Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters say that they were called to Park Ave. shortly after 1 p.m. for a fire that sent flames shooting into the sky.
According to fire officials, ten people lived in the multi-family home.
Everyone made it out safely, but several pets were unaccounted for.
“I tried to go [back into the house] and grab the other cats, but the house was filling up with so much smoke… I started to cough,” resident Mariah Dubois said.
Crews had their hands full making sure the fire didn’t spread, as several houses were close by.
Gusty conditions fueled the flames as well, with Woonsocket Deputy Fire Chief Robert Sevigny saying that they posed a significant challenge in pu
