INDIANAPOLIS — On Sunday, a gathering of at least 100 people on Monument Circle denounced hate.

It stands in contrast to last weekend's march in downtown Indianapolis when a masked group of people promoted a hateful message.

"Standing up, speaking out," said Michael Saahir, Imam of the Nur-Allah Islamic Center. "That is what we need to have models of, because once you're quiet then they're going to misread that."

Saahir helped organize the rally. He called on the community to come together and for public officials to create stronger hate crime laws in Indiana.
