TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Saturday capped off what may be the most impressive summer in the history of Tallahassee Leon Babe Ruth. The 13u team won in Jamestown, NY to secure their World Series title, joining the 14u team who already accomplished the feat a couple of weeks ago.
The team defeated Stamford, CT 13-5. Unlike most games they’ve played this summer, the boys from Tallahassee needed some magic to get the job done. Entering the fifth inning, they trailed 5-4, but then scored eight runs to turn it into a blowout.
It’s the fourth world series title for the 13u team, but first since 2009. They finish the year a perfect 14-0 and outscored opponents 148-17 over the summer.
Preston Cooksey received the tournament MVP award.
