KENTUCKY, USA — Police have arrested a juvenile in connection with a shooting outside of a rivalry football game in Mayfield .

According to the Mayfield Police Department, a 14-year-old male from Fulton was taken into custody.

The shooting happened during fourth quarter of the “Battle of the Birds” football game between Mayfield High School and Graves County High School Friday night.

Police said the incident stemmed from a physical altercation between 18-year-old Jordan Riley and another juvenile. That’s when the 14-year-old fired his weapon, injuring Riley.

Riley suffered a serious gunshot wound to his arm and upper torso. He was airlifted to a Nashville, Tennessee hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition.

The 14-year-old is charged with first-degree assault.
