LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - High pressure is remaining in place over the next few days and keeping things nice and quiet!

After this weekends front pushed through, we have been treated with lower humidity giving us cooler starts during the morning and afternoons with less of a heat index.

More of the same can be expected as we head through our Monday as we track plenty of sunshine, but also a hot afternoon.

Temperatures are topping out in the middle 90s this afternoon, but thankfully will feel closer to the actual air temperature as heat index values are closer to 100°.

Rain and storm chances are staying on the backburner for now as we’ll see better rain coverage to our north through the middle half of the work week.

A few spotty showers and storms can’t be ruled out through Thursday,
