Police in Dowa have arrested two refugees from Dzaleka Refugee Camp for allegedly stealing assorted items within the district.

The suspects — Festol Ishmael, aged 19, a Rwandan national, and Ndowimana Hassan, aged 20, from Burundi — were apprehended during an intelligence-driven operation conducted at the camp and surrounding areas.

According to Dowa Police Publicist, Sub-Inspector Alice Sitima, police recovered 17 plastic chairs, mattresses, groceries, and other household items during the operation.

The total value of the stolen property has not yet been disclosed.

The two suspects are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of theft.
