One person has died after an early morning house fire in Southington on Monday, according to the fire chief.

Emergency crews responded to a home on Chaffee Lane around 2:30 a.m. after getting multiple 911 calls.

When crews arrived, they said they found heavy fire coming out of the front side of the home.

Firefighters went into the home to try to extinguish the flames and look for any occupants.

Southington Fire Chief Eric Heath said one person has died. They have not yet been identified as officials work to notify their next of kin.

Heath said the person was found in the bedroom of the home and was the only occupant they're aware of at this time.
