CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Students across western Massachusetts are gearing up for the new school year, which starts in just a few days.

Local students and parents are experiencing a mix of emotions as they prepare for the return to school. Some students express excitement, while others are nervous about the transition from summer vacation to classroom learning.

"I'm feeling ready, hopefully no drama, no nothing, like good, positive attitude, energy, everything," said tenth-grader Anytssa Caravaloo Castro.

For Gianna Chapdelaine, playing sports at Chicopee High has been a helpful way to ease back into the school routine.
