NEAR SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Firefighters battled a house fire that turned deadly in west Springfield on Sunday.

Three people died in the fire in the 3300 block of West Lombard Street around 1:30 p.m. That is near West Bypass. Investigators have not released the identities of the victims.

“My husband came and got me and said, ‘Come out here, you are not going to believe this,” said neighbor Kathryn Phillips. “I went out here and there were police everywhere. Whenever I came in from the pool, actually, I saw police starting to rope stuff off, and I thought well, this is weird.”

Investigators have not disclosed the cause of the fire. The house fire drew a significant response, including police taping off an area.
