Arsenal are keen on signing Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen and have been given a huge boost in their pursuit.

The 23-year-old centre-back has told the Bundesliga club that he would like to leave but remains under contract until 2029.

The Ecuadorian, though, does have a €60million (£52m) release clause in his current deal.

The player himself is keen on a transfer to the Gunners.

Arsenal 's north London rivals Tottenham have also been credited with an interest.

However, talkSPORT understands Spurs have not made contact with Leverkusen.

Hincapie has made 166 appearances for the club, including in their first two games of the current campaign.

He was an impressive part of the Bundesliga side's title-winning side in 2023/24, covering at left centre-back.
