CALISTOGA, Calif. (KRON) — The County of Napa declared a local emergency Sunday in response to the Pickett Fire burning in the Calistoga area. On Monday, an air quality advisory was extended through Wednesday.
Napa County Chief Executive Officer and Director of Emergency Services Ryan Alsop signed the emergency proclamation Sunday to request additional funding for the fire. The Pickett Fire, the declaration states, now presents "conditions of extreme peril to life, safety and property."
"The safety of our residents is our top priority," Alsop said in a statement Sunday. "This declaration is a proactive step to ensure we can mobilize every available resource to respond to the needs of our community, including coordinating with state and federal partners."
