LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The offseason quarterback battle for the Kentucky Wildcats has come to an end, at least for now.

Pete Thamel of ESPN confirmed just after 8:30 a.m. on Monday that Kentucky is naming Incarnate Word transfer Zach Calzada the starting quarterback to start the season.

Calzada has played in 38 games in his career, including stops at Texas A&M and Auburn.

In those 38 games, he’s logged a 62.7% completion percentage for 8,660 yards, 73 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions. In 2024, he completed 65.5% of his passes for 3,744 yards, along with 35 touchdowns and nine picks.

Thamel noted that Calzada finished second in the football championship subdivision in passing touchdowns last season with 35.
