A grieving Jazz Chisholm Jr. achieved a personal milestone in the Yankees’ 7-2 win over the Red Sox on Sunday , as the second baseman hit the 100 th home run of his career when he pulled a two-run shot off Dustin May in the second inning.

After the game, which saw Chisholm add another two-run homer in the eighth, he was asked what it meant to him to join baseball’s Century Club. At that point, Chisholm revealed that he had lost someone close to him on Saturday.

“It felt kind of surreal,” an understandably somber Chisholm said. “I lost my best friend yesterday, so today felt like a different type of day.”
