Former Gogglebox star Sandra Martin has opened up about her preference for life on benefits, finding it less stressful than her television career.

The 55-year-old, who became a household name with her best mate Sandi Bogle on the popular Channel 4 show, had to sign on again in February 2018 as her TV earnings dwindled.

Despite having appeared on shows like 100 Years Younger in 21 Days and making various chat show appearances, Sandra found that the work was not sustainable.

After leaving Gogglebox in 2017, she splurged the remainder of her money by living in a hotel. By Christmas of the same year, she faced severe financial difficulties, admitting she was "homeless and penniless".
