LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Governor Gretchen Whitmer is challenging multiple federal disaster aid denials after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) declined to approve key parts of Michigan’s request for critical assistance following the devastating March 2025 ice storm.
While FEMA has approved and distributed funding to local municipalities, individual families, businesses, and utility providers were denied support.
“Many Northern Michiganders are still reeling from the impacts of the ice storm that devastated communities earlier this year,” said Governor Whitmer. “Michigan families and businesses deserve the support they need to recover from these storms.
