The largest ever U.S. Coast Guard drug offload involving more than 76,000 pounds was taking place at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on Monday.
The drugs, over 38 tons of cocaine and marijuana, were seized during 19 different interdictions in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean, officials said.
Pallet by pallet, members of the Coast Guard removed the drugs, which were seized over a period of several months. NBC6
The seizure included more than 61,000 pounds of cocaine and over 15,000 pounds of marijuana.
Footage released by the Coast Guard on Monday showed a person on a small boat tossing bundles overboard while being pursued and caught by crew from the Cutter Hamilton.
