TACOMA, Wash. — A man was arrested after throwing thousands of nails onto State Route 16 in Tacoma over the weekend.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) reported that a pedestrian was walking on westbound SR 16 just before 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) said all westbound lanes of SR 16 were closed for more than two hours while crews cleaned up the nails. The off-ramp near Union Avenue was also blocked as a result.
A witness said he saw a man throwing what he believed to be rocks onto the roadway and walking through all lanes of the highway amid heavy traffic. WSP said it received multiple 911 calls about the man.
