OMAHA, Neb. —

Jacque Tevis-Butler has been a fixture in Nebraska high school sports for more than 30 years.

But it was not until recently that the longtime Millard West head soccer coach saw a need for something more.

"All I wanted to do was to create support systems for women in this position," Tevis-Butler said.

Support for women in athletic leadership roles in Nebraska.

"I summoned nine of the women to join me, and we just started talking, and I was like, should we do something? Because I kind of want to leave this place in a little better spot than it was when I got there," Tevis-Butler said.

Those conversations sparked the creation of the Nebraska Women’s Athletic Leadership Alliance .
