Up to 1,700 National Guard troops could reportedly soon be deployed in 19 states, most of them led by Republicans , to help U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with immigration enforcement.
Newsweek has contacted the Pentagon, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the 19 reported states for comment via email.
