Blue Bell recalls ice cream after packaging mix

Blue Bell issued a recall on Friday after ice cream containing nuts was mispackaged and shipped to retail outlets in 16 states, including Texas.

Blue Bell said half-gallon containers of Moo-llennium Crunch ice cream, which contains almonds, walnuts and pecans, were packaged in containers marked as Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Moo-llennium Crunch lids.

The Texas-based ice cream maker issued a voluntary recall because the nuts in the ice cream were not listed on the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough packaging. Blue Bell said an employee discovered the incorrect packaging on two half-gallons while restocking a retailer.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds, walnuts, and pecans run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these produc
