CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A driver was killed in a collision with a train Monday in Clayton.
The crash took place at Central Street between Front Street and E. Main Street, near the Clayton Post Office.
Clayton Police said it happened about 10:50 a.m. when a 2012 Toyota Corolla made a left turn off E. Main Street onto Central Street and tried to go around the crossing arms, which were down in both directions. Lights were flashing at the time, police said.
The eastbound Norfolk Southern cargo train hit the driver's side of the car. The Corolla then rolled and was dragged about 300 feet from the crash site.
The driver who was killed was identified as Dwayne Alton Bryant, 62, of Clayton. No one on the train was injured.
