WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) families started a new academic year with new changes at schools across the county.

The district made changes to the cost of school meals , the online school services system, and cell phone usage for the 2025-2026 school year.

School meals are $0.25 more than last year.

All Wake County schools transitioned from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus as their online school services system.

The change away from PowerSchool comes after a 2024 data breach exposed private student, staff, and parent information.

The district is also cracking down on cell phone usage by students, based on grade level.

High schoolers can use their phones in between classes, during lunch, and when a teacher lets them.
