As much of the state heads back to school, there’s one thing that’s top of mind for educators: Keeping the attention of students in a world where there are lots of distractions.

Some school leaders are tackling the issue head on, like administrators at Cheshire Public Schools.

“I think our approach has been about bringing in the community, getting parental support, getting students on board. So, everybody has expectations that we're going to put parameters in place,” said Kristin Pelz, Assistant Principal at Cheshire High School.

Cheshire schools started a strict policy for its students a couple of years ago when they noticed how much of a distraction phones were causing for learning and social connection.
