AVON, Ohio (WOIO) - The Avon Eagles flew into the 2025 season after a historic undefeated title run that earned the school’s first state championship.
But the team is not only remembering their win... they’re honoring their loss.
Just four months after helping his team earn the state title, Jeremiah Kelly tragically died from a heart condition.
Kelly passed away in his sleep at his residence hall on April 22, his family shared.
His autopsy revealed he suffered from “cardiac hypertrophy,” which is a thickening of the heart muscles.
He was continuing his football career as an offensive lineman at the University of Cincinnati, where he enrolled early to practice with the Bearcats during the spring semester.
