A school bus monitor in New Orleans was sent to the emergency room after an altercation on a school bus on Thursday involving a McDonogh 35 College Preparatory High School student and the student's mother, local news station WVUE reported Saturday.

InspireNOLA Charter Schools, which governs the high school, said the incident is being investigated, telling Newsweek : "InspireNOLA Charter Schools is aware of an unfortunate incident that took place Thursday afternoon on a school bus transporting students. We are actively investigating the matter in collaboration with the school bus company and local authorities."

Johnny Jackson, the school bus monitor's husband, told WVUE that his wife, Tamika Jackson, suffered multiple injuries, including bite marks, in the altercation.
