An individual pleaded guilty but mentally ill Monday to killing an off-duty state police agent last year along the Montour Trail in Moon.
Nearly a dozen of Benjamin Braillier’s friends and family members sat in the courtroom as 26-year-old Antonia Quesen pleaded guilty but mentally ill to one charge of third-degree murder and several lesser charges in a separate case. A plea of guilty but mentally ill means that, upon sentencing, Quesen will be sent to a facility that can continue to treat her mental health conditions.
Sentencing is set for Nov. 18.
Mr. Braillier, 44, was running on the Montour Trail mid-afternoon on Oct. 21, 2024 when prosecutors said he encountered Quesen, who was living in the woods along the trail.
