BRENTWOOD – Starting next month, Walter O’Grodnick will take over as interim police chief as the city starts the recruitment process to identify a permanent leader.

After more than three decades in law enforcement, current Police Chief Tim Herbert will officially retire on Sept. 5.

“In the meantime, Captain O’Grodnick’s experience, leadership qualities, and professionalism will ensure the continued safety and well-being of Brentwood residents,” the city said in a statement.
