A Bridgewater couple is facing charges in connection with refusing to give an unhoused man nearly $18,000 they fundraised under the guise of helping him, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said.

Brian Ferreira, 33, and Rachel Kadis, 31, pleaded not guilty to one count each of larceny by false pretenses over $1,200, embezzlement and conspiracy during their arraignment in Brockton District Court on Friday, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said in a press release .

Bridgewater police began investigating the couple after the unhoused man reported them to the police department on June 8, the district attorney’s office said.
