SPOKANE, Wash. -- Sections of the Spokane River are running dry. The Spokane Riverkeeper says you can see the dry riverbed in large sections, but especially between Barker Road and Sullivan in Spokane Valley.

They say this is "posing immediate threats to fish, wildlife, and the overall health of the river ecosystem. This is a critical moment for our community to understand the severity of the situation and the urgent need to protect river flows."

4 News Now reporter Hunter Bertram is working on this story and reaching out to water managers to find out why the river is so low in some parts, and we'll post updates as soon as we get them.
