A professional wrestling match turned violent on Saturday when Raja Jackson, the son of UFC legend Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, attacked wrestler Syko Stu, whose real name is Stuart Smith. The incident occurred at KnokX Pro Academy in Los Angeles and was intended to build a storyline for a feud between Raja and Syko Stu.
The altercation began when Raja left his seat at ringside and entered the ring to confront Syko Stu. He picked up the wrestler and slammed him to the mat, seemingly knocking him unconscious. Raja then delivered a series of 22 punches to Syko Stu's head and face before other wrestlers intervened to stop the assault.
The event was streamed live on Raja's Kick channel and quickly went viral on social media. Following the incident, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they are investigating the matter. Officers were called to the scene and filed a police report regarding the attack.
Quinton Jackson addressed the situation on social media, stating that he believed the incident was part of the show. He claimed that Raja had been struck earlier in the evening and was told he could seek revenge in the ring. However, this account was disputed, as it was clarified that the earlier incident occurred hours before the match and that Syko Stu had apologized to Raja multiple times.
Rampage Jackson also mentioned that his son had suffered a concussion from sparring days prior to the event, suggesting that this may have influenced Raja's actions. He stated, "I don’t condone my son’s actions AT ALL! He suffered a concussion from sparring only days ago and had no business doing anything remotely close to physical contact."
KnokX Pro Academy condemned Raja's actions, labeling them as "reprehensible" and describing the attack as a "selfish, irresponsible act of violence."
Syko Stu's brother, Andrew Smith, provided an update on his condition, stating that he is currently stable but in critical care. He expressed gratitude for the support and prayers from the community. "Thank you everyone for your prayers, concerns and kind words for my brother Stu. Please keep him in your prayers," Andrew posted on Facebook.
Douglas Malo, a wrestler who helped break up the fight, reported that Syko Stu was awake and speaking on Sunday but had sustained serious injuries, including broken bones in his face and the loss of several teeth. Malo described the scene, saying, "He was choking on his own blood and teeth."
The situation has raised concerns about safety in professional wrestling, especially regarding the involvement of individuals with backgrounds in mixed martial arts.
