WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - Direct flights between Williston and Las Vegas return next month. As that gets underway for its fourth year, there’s no word on when another destination flight might be coming.

The City of Williston received a $500,000 federal grant in 2022 to have a carrier provide flights to Phoenix. So far, it has gone unspent.

Airport Director Anthony Dudas said it’s still available as they continue looking for a suitable airline.

“We’re continuing to work towards enhancing that service. That is something we’re continuing to meet with air carriers to identify the right time and when they have the right resources available so we can initiate that service as well,” said Dudas.

Pilot shortages and inflation have made it difficult to get new flights to northwest North Dakota.
