CLEVELAND — A woman is dead and several others are injured following a police pursuit that ended in a crash early Sunday morning in Cleveland.

According to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle around 1:16 a.m. near St. Clair Avenue and East 13th Street. The vehicle was reportedly driving recklessly without headlights and the driver was suspected of operating under the influence.

The driver did not stop and sped away eastbound on St. Clair Avenue. Deputies received authorization from a supervisor to initiate a pursuit, in accordance with department policy.

Just two minutes later, the suspect vehicle collided with a civilian vehicle at St. Clair Avenue and Addison Road.

The 37-year-old woman driving that vehicle was taken to University Hospitals
