LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Better conditions for crews fighting the Cottonwood Peak Fire helped over the weekend, but lightning is in the forecast later today.
The fire is now 40% contained at 132,685 acres, according to the Eastern Area Complex Incident Management Team (EACIMT). "Additional fire growth is not expected moving forward barring any unforeseen weather conditions," according to a Monday morning news release.
With 1,036 personnel assigned to the Cottonwood Peak Fire working around the clock, crews have been available to react. "That readiness paid off as IA (initial attack) crews assisted overnight and into Monday with a fresh start south of us, the 200-acre Big Butte Fire," the news release said.
